Upon observing this image, two striking observations emerge. Firstly, the individual clad in a blue suit exudes an innate sense of authority over President Lazarus Chakwera. Secondly, the President is visibly displaying an unusual level of reverence towards this man, gripping his hand with both of his own.
Intrigued by this scene, I felt compelled to delve deeper into the context of the situation. It was then revealed to me that the man in the blue suit, Mr. Michael Chatsunda Banda, had served as President Lazarus Chakwera’s headmaster during his time at Kaning’a Full Primary School.
“Few days ago, I hosted to a luncheon my primary school headmaster at Kaning’a Full Primary School, Mr. Michael Chatsunda Banda, who played a huge role in my life both as a student and a person.
“Many decades later, and after an enriching chat with him, I still admire his outright dedication to education. We will continue utilising people of his calibre as the reference point in our pursuit of better education standards,” wrote President Chakwera on his Facebook Page.
What an act of humility from President Chakwera.
