Silver Strikers FC

In an electrifying showdown at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday, Adiel Kaduya and Binwell Katinji showcased their prowess, propelling the Central Bankers to a triumphant start in the 2024 TNM Super League against Chitipa United.

The victory catapults Silver Strikers into the pole position following the inaugural matches of the league.

The early stages of the match witnessed a fierce battle, with both teams displaying a captivating brand of football characterized by possession play and relentless pressing. However, it was thirty minutes into the game when Silver Strikers seized control, dominating proceedings as they forced their opponents deep into their own territory. Despite several near misses from Gift Chunga and Katinji, it was Kaduya who broke the deadlock at the 40-minute mark, capitalizing on a rebound from Chimwemwe Idana’s shot against the woodwork.

Heading into the second half, Silver Strikers maintained their intensity, with Kaduya orchestrating a brilliant move to set up Katinji for a clinical finish, doubling the Bankers’ lead eight minutes after the restart. Despite Chitipa United’s valiant efforts to stage a comeback, goalkeeper George Chikooka’s heroics kept the Central Bankers’ goal intact.

Head Coach Peter Mponda’s strategic substitutions injected fresh energy into the team, with Christopher Gototo, Zebron Kalima, Emmanuel Muyira, and Patrick Macheso making impactful contributions off the bench. The Central Bankers held firm until the final whistle, clinching a well-deserved victory.

Reflecting on the triumph, Mponda praised his team’s resilience and hailed Kaduya as the standout performer, earning him the prestigious title of Man of the Match.

With one game down and twenty-nine to go, the Central Bankers now turn their focus to their upcoming clash against Bangwe All Stars at Silver Stadium in what promises to be another thrilling encounter.
