The Education Committee of the Malawi National Assembly on Monday toured Mzuzu University. The tour aimed at gaining a nuanced understanding of both the strides and hurdles confronting the institution.

In his capacity as the committee’s Chairperson, Brainard Kaise emphasized the importance for the university to harmonize its academic offerings with the national aspirations encapsulated in Malawi 2063.

On his part, Vice Chancellor Prof Wales Singini illuminated the institution’s 25-year commitment to fostering human capital, culminating in the graduation of more than 15,000 students. He revealed that the university presently boasts an enrollment exceeding 9,000 students, employing diverse modes of delivery encompassing face-to-face, open distance, and e-learning.

During the visit, the committee undertook a tour of the university’s library construction site, where advancements have been impeded by contractual adjustments, posing a noteworthy challenge to progress.
