FAM Says Malawi-Egypt game grosses MK76.4 Million

Egypt taking on Malawi

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has disclosed that the match between Malawi and Egypt played on Tuesday 28th March 2023 at Bingu National Stadium grossed MK76.4 million in gate revenue. According to the report, total direct expenses amounted to MK17.1 million and net income was MK59.2 million.

“It is pleasing to note that the MWK76.4 million realized is the highest in the history of football in Malawi. MK65.4 million, representing 86% was realized from advance ticket sales while MK11.0 million was realized on match day. This is a positive indication that our commercialization efforts of enhancing e–ticketing are bearing fruits,” reads the FAM report.

Further read the report:

“Regrettably, ugly scenes and security challenges compromised revenue projections. We thank Malawi Police Service and other private security service providers for professionally managing the situation which made sure that no life and property was lost or damaged.”

The above notwithstanding,  the report states that the football governing body in the country is grateful to the Malawi government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports led by Honorouble Uchizi Mkandawire, MP for continued government funding and support towards the national team. The statement further thanked “our sponsors and partners; FDH Bank, Rab Processors Ltd, and Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM) for their unwavering support.”
