Dr. Kayuni Chuckles at Martha Chizuma’s Fiasco as Chilima Case Discontinues

Dr. Steve Kayuni - Director of Public Prosecution (DPP)

By Lord Denning

It has to be said, perhaps for what is worthy to avoid any doubt, mis-claims, misunderstanding and anything within that category of mischiefs, that in all this spectacle of monumental relief, there is a source who originated the shed burden in the first place.

It is equally worthy stating that the said origination of such burden was not one of honest error or undiscovered mistake. It was one of unpatriotic design and mischievous mission. Its rollout was voluntary. That is the only laudable way to explain the adamancy that was in display when the former Director of Public Prosecution, in his competent foresight, refused to endorse a proposed prosecution of the Vice President when the ACB leadership went asking.

The strength of the mischief that the ACB leadership was so prepared to unravel received extra voltage from unsuspecting large portion of the public that was active on social media. Exploiters of ignorance designed a campaign that was aimed at one thing: To lead people into believing that what they were doing was for the good of the country. But I saw it as it was. I condemned it as it was supposed to be.

But I was the lone voice against the multitude of brainwashed voices. My only hope was banked in history which I had unwavering trust that it would judge me well and judge the misguided and the misguiding with a harsh tone. This is exactly what history is currently doing and it hasn’t finished yet until all that deserve vindication get vindicated accordingly.

I mean look: the former DPP, Dr. Kayuni was very cautious when he was approached by the ACB to grant consent for a prosecution adventure which lacked appropriate evidence. He clearly stated that if the ACB so much wanted to bring about the charges and proceed to court they should go back and bring proper evidence that would warrant the consent. But when he refused the consent as such, the ACB’s theatrical tactics of appealing to public sentiment and donor pressure kicked in full throttle. A floodgate of unified emotions rallying behind the ACB leadership’s flawed judgement stormed the dialogue space to the extent that some ridiculous demonstrations were organized, all in the name of mounting pressure on the DPP to grant consent.

But thanks to Dr. Kayuni, he remained steadfastly unfazed because he was neither prepared to be a pawn nor was he prepared to violate the integrity of his own intellect and office. But he paid for that vigilance through his removal from office. Through unrelenting agitations, he was moved from the office much to the ridiculous delight of the gullible public. Things went so fast-forward to the extent of manipulating what was the good-standing law. The ACB was granted the might free hand of power to proceed with cases without the need to seek consent from the DPP. But if you ask me, this law in its changed form is not a good law. The arguments to that deserve entire space, therefore, should be deferred for future discussions.

Meanwhile, all I wanted to say is that ACB is a mess that created a mess and needs to be described as such and whoever has been perpetrating that mess should learn to account for her own mess and not just messing around. That leadership deserves no further minute in that office. It messed up big time.
