ACB nabs Lands Minister Kezzie Msukwa for aiding Sattar in corrupt deals

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Minister of Lands, Kezzie Msukwa, for obtaining advantage from corruption kingpin Zuneth Sattar who was entangled in land dispute with local inhabitants in Lilongwe.

According to warrant of arrest in possession of Shire Times, Msukwa is suspected of having committed three counts of corrupt use of official powers contrary to section 25(1) of the Corrupt Practices Act as read together with section 34 of the Corrupt Practices Act.

KEZZIE MSUKWA, being a public officer by virtue of his appointment as Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development between July and August 2021, in Lilongwe District, being concerned with a land dispute matter connected with his jurisdiction as Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in Area 46 plot number 46/2057, in Lilongwe District, Malawi, between Zuneth Abdul Rashid Sattar and the local inhabitants, corruptly obtained from ZUNETH ABDUL RASHID SATTAR an advantage in form of a motor vehicle, namely Mercedes Benz C Class for the advantage of MOSES KAFUNDA,” reads the first count.

The other two counts indicate that Msukwa obtained K4 million and K15 million from Sattar to cool down local inhabitants and also allow him to buy land in Salima respectively.

The K15 million was obtained through Sattar’s agent Ashok Kumar Sreedhan who is also under arrest in connection with the same.

But Msukwa says he is not aware of the warrant of arrest that has been issued for him.

Speaking to local media, a short while ago, Msukwa says he is only reading on social media platforms that he has been arrested.

He has since said he is ready to present himself to the ACB if he is wanted because he is a law abiding person.
