Chakwera Fast-Tracks Passport Issuance: 3-Week Deadline Given to Immigration

Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera has provided assurance to the nation regarding the imminent resumption of passport issuance services by the Immigration Department. These affirmations were articulated prior to the President’s engagement in parliamentary questioning on Wednesday.

President Chakwera instructed the Immigration Department to devise a provisional plan within three weeks to facilitate Malawians’ access to passport services, pending the implementation of a permanent solution.

Simultaneously, President Chakwera issued a stern warning to hackers who wants to extort ransom from the Malawian government to regain access to the system, cautioning them of impending legal repercussions.

“As long as I am the Commander in Chief of this country, I will not sleep until those who have hacked our system get caught,” said Chakwera.
