Tight security ahead of festive season says Homeland Security Minister Ken Zikhale Ng’oma

The Ministry of Homeland Security has affirmed its commitment to ensuring robust security measures during the upcoming festive seasons. Speaking at a press conference in Lilongwe, Dr. Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, the Minister of Homeland Security, assured the public that Malawi Police officers have been strategically deployed, with some in uniform, others in plainclothes, and additional patrols in motor vehicles.

Minister Ng’oma commended the Malawi Police for their efforts in investigating and apprehending those responsible for recent serial killings in the country. He emphasized the need to recognize and reward police officers who perform commendably, including providing them with suitable housing.

Furthermore, the Minister strongly condemned the dissemination of fake news, urging the public to be discerning consumers of information. He warned that the government would take action against those found sponsoring or spreading false information, emphasizing the negative impact of such actions on society.

“We are now working towards festive season where a lot of atrocities accidents happen. These usually happened when people have enjoyed their lives since after taking alot of alcohol they travel at the very fastest speed, they overlord,”

He said the Ministry has taken measures that will make sure that “We control such malpractices and want to assure Malawians that police will be very active from today. Onwards, we’ll have foot soldiers that will be traveling moving in our communities to ensure that whatever happens, you have access to the police service.
