One of Malawi’s leading chain store’s Sanaa Cash and Carry has expanded its footprints in the Northern Region with the opening of a mega shop in Karonga District.
Situated at the Karonga town along the Karonga Songwe boarder road, the multi-million kwacha store has seen over 50 locals get employment.
In an interview following the official opening of the store which saw hundreds of excited residents flock the premise to witness the pomp and grammar that accompanied the ceremony, Sanaa Cash and Carry General Manager for Northern Region Ali Mahn, expressed delight in opening the shop in the district saying the coming in of Sanaa is a game changer in terms of customers shopping experience in the district.
He said a part from creating employment and a conducive buying place, the store will provide opportunities to small scale farmers to sell their produce to the shop.
“Karonga being a bordering district and a face of Malawi deserved such a shopping mall hence our delight in coming to the district because Sanaa is the only shop that sells cheap products to its customers.” He said.
Mahn therefore expressed satisfaction with the way the Karonga locals have welcomed them to the district saying the shop is a gateway for Malawi products thus urging local businesses to conduct business with them.
In a separate interview one of the residents in the district Linda Ngwira, said the coming in of Sanaa is a huge boost amid the rising of basic commodities.
“As a resident of Karonga I am excited with the opening of the shopping mall in the district as the store is selling goods at a much cheaper price than other shops in the district which is a relief to many residents admits the economic situation of the country.” She explained.
Concurring with Ngwira another local Andrew Moyo, said the opening of Sanaa has ease their burden of having to travel to as far as Mzuzu to buy other essential products which were not being sold in the district hence expressed excitement.
Among others, Sanaa Cash and Carry has shops in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mzuzu.
