Minister of Finance Chithyola Banda in participatory approach; engages Chiefs on economic recovery

The country’s Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda is currently holding discussions with chiefs in Lilongwe to explore effective ways to rejuvenate the economy. Since assuming office on October 7, 2023, Chithyola Banda has been engaging with various stakeholders to gather insights on how the people of Malawi can collectively tackle the economic difficulties facing the nation.

Chithyola Banda has already met with the Public Affairs Committee (PAC), religious leaders, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Chairs of various Parliamentary Committees, and leaders from all political parties, among others.

The meeting with the chiefs aims to acquaint them with strategies for economic recovery through a collaborative approach. The minister has devised a ‘Four F Strategy’ to ensure that there is an adequate supply of Fuel, Forex, Food, and Fertilizer in the country to expedite economic revival.

During these discussions, participants are provided with the opportunity to contribute their ideas on how to effectively address the country’s debt totaling K9.4 trillion.
