High Court Justice Redson Kapindu has scheduled April 2, 2024, as the date for rendering a decision regarding Vice-President Saulos Chilima’s plea for additional disclosures in a case where he stands accused of receiving undisclosed sums of money to influence the awarding of contracts to businessman Zunneth Sattar.
The ruling is slated to take place at 2pm in open court at the Lilongwe Registry of the High Court, as per a notice dated March 22, 2024.
Chilima, represented by his legal representatives, is requesting access to defense council minutes and correspondence between the President and former Malawi Defence Force (MDF) Commander Vincent Nundwe concerning contracts related to Sattar.
The MDF opposes the disclosure of this information, citing national security concerns.
