The people of Phalombe district in the southern region of Malawi can now afford a sigh of relief following the opening of their first-ever district hospital which was commissioned by Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera yesterday.
The promise to have Phalombe hospital constructed has been a fantasy as the past presidents failed to have it realized and thanks to the Chakwera administration, the dream is now a reality.
“The people of Phalombe and surrounding areas will now have convenient access to modern healthcare services at the new Phalombe District Hospital that I have commissioned today,” said the President in a Facebook post after the opening.
Further said Chakwera:
“My administration, fully conscious of the need for continuity in national projects, will keep on improving healthcare service delivery to Malawians through modern infrastructure and well-trained personnel.”
Chakwera stated that his government’s efforts in the Health sector is in tandem with the national development agenda, Malawi Vision 2063, which places quality, equitable and affordable healthcare as the backbone of a productive society. The president assured that his government will relentlessly invest in the Health sector to attain a healthy population that will consequently transform this nation.
