Malawi has been ranked as number one country in Africa with cheapest data. The ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) has stated that the reduction in data costs in the country, as mentioned by cable.co.uk, is expected to boost internet adoption. According to ICTAM, this, in turn, will contribute to generating digital revenue for Malawi. Clarence Gama, President of ICTAM, also remarked that this development offers promise for broader and more inclusive internet accessibility.
According to the report, Malawi has been ranked as the African country with the most affordable data prices and 29th globally for the period from June to September 2023.
During the 2023 International Day for Universal Access to Information commemoration, MISA Malawi urged the government and relevant stakeholders to ensure that reliable internet is universally accessible for information retrieval.
