Romance, Tippex & Betrayal: Chimulirenji Dumps DPP After Jane Ansah Gets the Ticket

Everton Chimulirenji dumped again

Former de facto one year Vice President Everton Chimulirenji, who was President Peter Mutharika’s running mate in 2019, has quit the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and announced he will contest the upcoming elections as an independent MP for Ntcheu North Constituency.

Chimulirenji said he won the DPP primary election, but the party cancelled his victory after Jane Ansah, former MEC chairperson, launched a baseless claim.

“I won fairly, but they gave the ticket to her. That’s not democracy,” he told his supporters.

Insiders allege Jane Ansah used her past romantic ties with Peter Mutharika to influence the decision — claims made more believable by a viral photo of the two allegedly kissing during their romance time.

Ansah previously led the 2019 election, which was cancelled by the court due to serious irregularities, including the use of Tippex — an election that had made Chimulirenji Vice President for just one year.

Now sidelined again, he says he has no choice but to go independent.

This is a classic case of “When love enters the gate, fairness jumps out of the window.”
