The Greenbelt Authority and Mpatsa Holdings Limited have joined forces through a Public Private Partnership Agreement aimed at collaboration in irrigation and livestock agriculture projects.
This unique venture involves a local company with significant capabilities to boost agriculture commercialization and productivity.
According to Counsel Wester Peter Kosamu, Chairperson of the Greenbelt Authority’s Board of Directors, this marks the beginning of a promising journey that will allow Malawians to benefit from government investments in agriculture.
The agreement will establish a new company named Mpatsa-Greenbelt Mega Farm Limited, responsible for managing various projects, including a 700-hectare Mega Farm in Khonjeni, Thyolo District, dedicated to cultivating high-value crops.
Jimmy Korea Mpatsa, Chairman of Mpatsa Holdings Limited, expressed his gratitude for the trust the Malawi Government has placed in his company, which serves as a motivation to deliver on their commitments.
The primary focus of the new company’s operations will be producing substantial quantities of high-quality agricultural products to combat hunger and generate foreign exchange earnings through exports.
