Chakwera

President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has encouraged Malawians to learn from the exemplary life of the late Honorable Daniel Chiwere.

Chiwere, a Member of Parliament for Dedza Central Constituency under the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), passed away on Monday at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.

Speaking at Chiwere’s burial ceremony on Thursday, July 20, 2023, held at Kalinyeke Primary School Ground in Dedza, President Chakwera praised Chiwere as an honorable and peace-loving individual who devoted his life to serving his community and made positive contributions to the country’s development.

“Chiwere has left us with an example of what a hardworking, selfless leader looks like. He does not have a bad reputation and was never accused of corruption or theft,” said the Malawi leader.

He added: “He spent his life in peace and loved to unite people everywhere he was.”

The president expressed his gratitude to the people of Dedza for their understanding and resilience in the face of the country’s numerous challenges, commending their behavior as worthy of admiration and emulation.

Earlier, MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka conveyed the party’s grief over the loss of a highly industrious and committed individual who played a significant role during the 2019 campaign period when the party was in opposition.

Chiwere’s demise occurred just a few weeks after the passing of his wife, and he was laid to rest on his birthday, July 20.
