Pres. Chakwera says Children’s Future Matters, Regardless of Voting or Taxation Status

Lazarus Chakwera

Children, legally defined as individuals under the age of 18, constitute a significant demographic in Malawi, embodying the nation’s future. President Chakwera underscored the importance of prioritizing their welfare and prospects, notwithstanding their inability to participate in electoral processes or contribute taxes due to their dependent status.

Speaking at Chikolele Primary School in Mtakataka, Dedza, during the inauguration of 10,900 school blocks funded by the World Bank, Chakwera emphasized the imperative of education in shaping a brighter future for children. He urged parents to ensure their children receive schooling for their own benefit, while also advising against having more children than can be adequately cared for.
