The Northern Region Police has reassured contestants, affiliates, fans, and football enthusiasts about their readiness to provide maximum security during the upcoming Football Association of Malawi (FAM) elections. The elections are scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Sunbird Mzuzu Hotel in Mzuzu city.
In order to maintain order during the elections, the police plan to deploy both uniformed and plainclothes officers inside and outside the venue, as well as throughout Mzuzu City. This measure aims to prevent any incidents of hooliganism, violence, or disorder.
Contestants, affiliates, and fans are urged to exercise caution, collaborate, and uphold peace and order before, during, and after the elections. Police officers will ensure strict adherence to FAM’s accreditation requirements, including identification measures for all participants.
The police emphasize their willingness to take immediate action, including arrests, against anyone found causing chaos or disturbing the peace during the event.
