Embattled chairperson of Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, Shadreck Namalomba, is hanging on a tiny thread of mercy as 13 of the 20 committee members have appended their signatures to a petition to have him removed for interfering with Anti Corruption Bureau functions.
Weeks ago Namalomba, in his capacity as Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson, issued a press statement accusing ACB of persecuting former president Peter Mutharika.
The statement further warned ACB of unspecified action if it continued investigating him.
The 13 members that have signed the petition are one member short of attaining a two-thirds quorum for the motion to pass.
Namalomba continues to fight for his life as chairperson saying his act in issuing the statement was not related to his Parliamentary work.
The Tonse government-aligned MPs have, however, vowed to exhaust all necessary means to see their chairperson shown the exit door.
