The Member of Parliament for Dowa East and Minister of Local Government Unity and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda, praised the pivotal role of community involvement in advancing constituency development in the country. Chimwendo-Banda commended community engagement while inaugurating six newly constructed classroom blocks funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) at Mphande Full Primary School, within Traditional Authority Chiwere in Dowa District.
Emphasizing the significance of community engagement, the minister urged local communities to actively facilitate diverse development initiatives within their areas. He highlighted the importance of executing projects that benefit entire communities rather than individual interests.
During the event, Julius Sixpence, the school’s head teacher, expressed optimism that the newly built six classroom blocks would elevate literacy levels in the region, foreseeing an upsurge in student enrollment. The upgrade comes as a significant improvement for Mphande Primary School, which had been in a deteriorating state since its establishment in 1984.
