The Minister of Water and Sanitation who is also the Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Nkomedzi Constituency Abida Mia has applauded President Lazarus Chakwera fir increasing constituency development fund from 30 million kwacha to 100 million kwacha annually.
The Minister made the remarks when she officially handed over a newly built Under Five Clinic at Saopa, Chikwawa-Nkombezi Constituency in Chikwawa
In her remarks during the ceremony, Mia said it is among her key priorities, to ensure that people in her constituency walk the shortest distances to access health care as championed by President Dr Lazarus Chakwera; whose Government, she said, has made this possible by increasing the Constituency Development Fund.
She mentioned her recent project of Therere Health Centre as a good example of fulfilling the intentions and promises of bringing good and quality healthcare to the people in various corners of her constituency.
Mia also shared the forthcoming health centre project at Miseu Folo Under GESD programme, whose foundation stone she laid a couple of months ago.
The Saopa Under Five Clinic was financed by Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to the tune of over K28 Million.
According to Group Village Headman Saopa, over 20, 000 people from 18 villages under his jurisdiction, are the direct beneficiaries of the Under Five Clinic project.
“Frequently and for a long time, we have witnessed maternal related deaths and therefore this project will positively impact towards healthy living of people in my area,” said GVH Saopa, adding, “We will always remember the great things you have done for us.”
The ceremony was also attended by stakeholders from Chikwawa District Council, led by its District Commissioner, Nardin Kamba alongside District Medical Officer, Dr Wanangwa Musopole.
