MCP Secretary General Mkaka Urges Mass Registration for Chakwera’s 2025 Victory

As the trajectory toward the 2025 general elections unfolds, Eisenhower Nduwa Mkaka, the Secretary General of the Malawi Congress Party, has initiated the groundwork for President Chakwera’s prospective triumph.

In a strategic move, Mkaka implores the electorate to engage with the National Registration Bureau (NRB), emphasizing the pivotal role of voter registration in facilitating their participation in endorsing Chakwera at the polls. Mkaka said this during a rally organised by the Minister of Finance, Simplex Chithyola Banda, in his Kasungu Constituency where he is a legislator.

Mkaka said: “An identification card will help you be identified as a Malawian so registration is not just about elections, because you see, for a person to be identified as a citizen of this country, they must have a national ID and this national ID serves many purposes, one of which is elections,” he said.

He added: “So what we are saying is that people must go in their large numbers to register because they need this. If they want to go to the hospital, they will need an ID if they want to go to access AIP products , they will need ID if they want to register for elections.”

Mkaka said if people want to vote for president Chakwera, they must have the national ID.

“So yes, we are encouraging people to go and register. Let them go in their large numbers and have themselves registered,” he said.
