Malawi’s international Temwa Chawinga named women’s world best goal scorer 2023

In a remarkable turn of events, Malawi’s international female footballer, Temwa Chawinga, has ascended to the pinnacle of the sport by clinching the coveted title of the 2023 women’s world best goal scorer, a distinction lauded by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). Notably, she has etched her name in history as the inaugural non-European female footballer to achieve this extraordinary feat.

Currently donning the jersey for Wuhan Jiangda in China, Chawinga has showcased an unparalleled prowess on the field, netting an astounding 51 goals across various competitions this season. Her meritorious achievements include seizing the Golden Boot Award in the Chinese Super League with an impressive tally of 30 goals, triumphing in the Chinese National Cup with 15 goals, and replicating her success in the Chinese FA Cup with an additional six goals.

The indomitable Chawinga further embellished her footballing legacy by contributing 12 goals to her national team during the recent COSAFA tournament held in South Africa, where she not only secured the COSAFA Golden Boot but also underscored her proficiency on the international stage.
