The Malawi National Women’s Football team, known as The Scorchers, put on a dominant display as they defeated Seychelles 17-0 in a preparatory match held at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre yesterday.
Temwa Chawinga, Vanessa Chikupira, and Chikondi Gondwe each scored three goals, with Leticia Chinyamula, Sarah Mlimbika, and Sabina Thom contributing to the scoring as well.
Both teams are scheduled to face off once again at the same venue on Thursday. These matches are part of The Scorchers’ preparations for the upcoming Cosafa Women’s Championship, which is set to kick off next month in South Africa.
In the FIFA rankings, The Scorchers hold the 159th position, while Seychelles is currently ranked 163rd.
