Malawi’s Defence Minister, Harry Mlekanjala Mkandawire has said the people of Malawi are grateful for the demonstration of real brotherhood displayed by Zambian people through services during Cyclone Freddy that recently hit Malawi.
Mkandawire who was in Zambia on an official tour made the remarks during the meeting held with his Zambian counterpart on Tuesday, 2nd May, 2023.
“I came to Zambia to meet the Minister of Defence and extend the message of thankfulness from His Excellency Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, the President of the Republic of Malawi to His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, the President of Zambia towards the demonstration of real brotherhood during the catastrophic Cyclone Freddy in Malawi.
Zambia Defence Force rendered aid to Malawi in areas of most critical needs, such as search and rescue operation, distribution of relief food items among others,” said Mkandawire soon after the meeting.
