The government of Rwanda is full of praise for its counterpart Malawi government for deporting genocide fugitive Theoneste Niyongira.
According to a statement released by National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA) in Rwanda, “Mr. Niyongira was the subject of NPPA indictment and international arrest warrant issued to the Republic of Malawi on 15th April 2019.”
“The NPPA commends Malawi Authorities for the deportation of Mr.Niyongira, as well as the collaboration in the effort to fight impunity,” concludes the statement.
It has transpired that this fugitive was been kept in this country by the lawless Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) when it was in power. It now has taken the law-abiding MCP of Lazarus Chakwera through his no-nonsense Minister Ken Zikhale Ng’oma to bring order and sanity by flushing out suspected criminals. It appears with Zikhale at the helm of the Home Land Ministry, Malawi won’t be a safe haven for fugitives as was the case enduring the time of the DPP. Perhaps Malawians on social media are right when they say DPP should never be allowed to return to power. The levels of impunity were simply sickening.
