Malawi Democracy fast maturing says Pres. Lazarus Chakwera

Lazarus Chakwera

Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera said during the first-ever National Conference On Separation of Powers underway in Lilongwe on Monday that the conference was a rare opportunity to re-examine the core doctrine that keeps our democracy thriving across various regimes and generations.

“This timely dialogue is a true reflection that what used to be a relatively young democracy is fast transitioning into a matured model of the constitutional order that will support our national development as outlined in the Malawi Vision 2063 agenda,” said Chakwera.

The conference is on the theme “Separation of Powers, A Development Catalyst or Hindrance?” and according to Chakwera, this theme must obligate Malawians to keep the three principal arms of government under constant checks and balances to fully optimize the smooth attainment of the development aspirations.

“As your servant, I remain subscribed to the Rule of Law as one of the five tenets that form the High5 Agenda on which our mandate to govern rests,” concluded the President.
