The Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera in exercise of the power vested in him by section 161(2) of the constitution of the land has appointed Lt General Paul Valentino Phiri as Commander of the Malawi Defence and has since promoted him to the rank of General with immediate effect.
In a statement released by Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba, the government of Malawi would like to thank General Nundwe for his great service during a pivotal and difficult period in the country’s history.
