Airtel Malawi inflicts harm on customers as they hike Voice & Data Bundles

In an announcement released to the media, Airtel Malawi, one of the nation’s leading mobile phone network service providers, will implement an increase in the rates of its voice, data, and SMS bundles commencing April 10, 2024.

According to the statement, voice bundles will see a 15 percent rise, while data bundles will experience a 23 percent increase, and SMS bundles will undergo a 20 percent adjustment.

The publicly traded company has cited recent escalations in electricity tariffs and the depreciation of the local currency, the Kwacha, as primary factors driving this decision. Airtel Malawi underscores that these modifications have received approval from the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra). This move follows a similar pricing adjustment enacted by the company in December of the previous year.
