Chairperson of Kadria Moslem Association of Malawi Sheikh Jafali Kawinga has commended President Chakwera describing him as a real statesman for releasing their fellow Moslem member, who is former Minister of Homeland Security, Uladi Mussa.
Speaking during the Eid al-Fitr in Lilongwe, Kawinga said the Malawi leader has kept promises and shown to be a servant leader.
He gave examples of Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola, Abida Mia, Halima Daud, State Advisor Sheikh Abbas, and many more.
Kawinga said the President’s door has remained open since his election in 2020.
“We have been meeting the President any time so you are indeed the servant leader,” he said.
Uladi Mussa’s reprieve could not come at a better time than this as it has come at this better time for him to integrate with his fellow Muslim faithful. His face could even beam a smile and a sense of feeling of appreciation for the fatherhood of President Chakwera who pardoned him for his 6-year jail sentence during Easter this year.
Chakwera today attended Eid al-Fitr prayers at a function taking place in Area 2 Moslem Sports Club Bwalo La Njobvu in the capital Lilongwe.
Eid al-Fitr, (Arabic: “Festival of Breaking Fast”) also spelled ʿĪd al-Fiṭr, also called al-ʿĪd al-Ṣaghīr, Turkish Ramazan Bayramı (“Ramadan Festival”), is the first of two canonical festivals of Islam.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwāl, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar (though the Muslim use of a lunar calendar means that it may fall in any season of the year).
As in Islam’s other holy festival, Eid al-Adha, it is distinguished by the performance of communal prayer (ṣalāt) at daybreak on its first day.
Eid al-Fitr is a time of official receptions and private visits when friends greet one another, presents are given, new clothes are worn, and the graves of relatives are visited.
