Abida Mia launches K10 Million Women and Youth revolving Fund; donates to Cyclone Freddy survivors

Abida Mia

Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Nkombedzi has on Sunday launched a revolving fund loan programme that will see about 1000 women and youths from her constituency start and boost small scale businesses.

The first cohort, Nsenjere Youth Club from Group Village Headman Chipwaila, has during the launch ceremony, received a cheque of K1.5 Million.

According to Mia, the loans beneficiary criteria will see no political affiliation and is expected to roll out to all centers of the constituency.

“The aim is to empower individuals and promote economic growth in rural areas and we believe that providing support and resources to help these individuals build their businesses cannot only benefit them and their families, but also contribute to the overall economic development of the community,” Said Mia.

Mia has since requested the loan beneficiaries to properly utilise their knowledge, drawn from the 5-day training they received from Chikwawa District Council.

Drawn from the 10 percent of Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the programme compliments government strategies towards achieving its 2063 development goals.

After the lunch, Mia proceeded to make a donation of items to 260 households from Nkumaniza Admarc Camp. The parliamentarian later escorted donors working in partnership namely SunSeed Oil Ltd and Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF) to Linga primary school where they distributed assorted relief items to 3000 people affected by Cyclone Freddy.
