The road to 2025 has begun with activities in political parties. The former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) which since its ouster in 2020 has been rocked in intra-party infighting has announced that the party will be going to the national convention to elect its leaders and consequently the presidential candidate for the incoming 2025 election.
The ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has also announced through party spokesperson Maurice Munthali that the party will be going to the convention next year and that aspirants can now begin to start campaigning for various positions.
According to Munthali, the party will release the dates of the convention later.
Recently, UTM filled its vacant positions as part of the restructuring exercise whereas AFORD has already hit the ground running, wooing support and trying to re-establish its political base in the southern region.
