The Malawi Government, through the Ministry of Education, has recruited and promoted 2 599 secondary school teachers that will be deployed across the country’s secondary schools in a bid to scale down the teacher-pupil ratios and ensure quality education.

Ministry of Education principal secretary Chikondano Mussa has, in a statement, asked those concerned to check with their respective education divisions.

“The names of successful teachers have already been sent to all the six Education Division offices where candidates can access the results.

“Successful teachers are therefore requested to immediately report to the Divisions under which they are appearing for deployment details and start working the week beginning today, Monday, 28th March, 2022,” reads the statement in part.

According to Mussa, the recruitment is historic as it is the first time that the government has deployed over 1 000 teachers to secondary schools at a go.

“The recruitment and promotion of these teachers form part of ongoing efforts by the Government to improve the quality of education service delivery in the country,” Mussa said.

The teachers that have been recruited and promoted fall under the disciplines of sciences, languages, humanities, technical education and special needs education.
