Councillor Esther Sagawa emerged victorious over the incumbent Richard Banda in an election held on Tuesday.
The election followed the court’s lifting of an injunction yesterday, allowing the polls to proceed.
The wave that led to Mayor Richard Banda’s defeat seems to be moving northward towards the Mzuzu City Council, and is poised to take another significant turn towards the Zomba City Council and Blantyre City Council.
