Ramadhan ‘watamanga’ as he quits job as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers gaffer

Has called it quits

The arrival of Burundian tactician Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan at the helm of the Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Football Club (FC) was met with great anticipation, with Ramadhan boldly proclaiming to the media, “ma team atamanga,” promising to lead the team to victory on the field. However, after just eight games into the Super League season, it is Ramadhan himself who has swiftly departed, following a string of disappointing performances. The Mighty Mukuru Wanderers suffered consecutive defeats, succumbing to both Silver Strikers and Mzuzu City Hammers by a scoreline of two-zero each.

Ramadhan, a former tactician for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC, who boasts coaching experience in Malawi, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, and his native Burundi, tendered his resignation directly to the team’s president, Thomson Mpinganjira. “If the table doesn’t serve you anymore, what do you do?” the letter reads. Meanwhile, Wanderers Chief Executive Officer Panganeni Ndovi has expressed ignorance on the coach’s resignation.

“My office has not received any communication on the matter. This [speculation that he has resigned] is what the social media is saying. If the coach has, indeed, left his job, we expect him to follow the right channel and if it is, indeed, true, then the available technical staff members will take up his role, with Meck Mwase, his deputy, taking over in the meantime,” Ndovi said.

At the same stage last year, Wanderers had 17 points after registering five victories, two draws Before the start of the season, Wanderers boosted their squad with striker Clement Nyondo, defender Timothy Silwimba and midfielder Blessings Singini. Wanderers have also signed Cameroonian striker Sama Tanjong but they are still waiting for his clearance.

Meanwhile, sports analyst Kim Kamau has said while the blame is on the technical panel, some players do not deserve to play for the club.

“There are several problems at Wanderers. They need to solve the problems; otherwise, prospects are not good for Wanderers,” he said.

The Lali Lubani Road outfit finished empty-handed last season, a development that led to the resignation of Mark Harrison. Wanderers last won the TNM Super League title in 2017, when they were under the tutelage of veteran mentor Yasin Osman, who is now the technical director.
