Nyasa Big Bullets rewards players as Wanderers players also swim in money

Gomezgani Chirwa was voted player of the season and went home with MK750,000 in a colourful event Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club organized to reward their players. The Peoples Team as Nyaa Big Bullets is fondly known had a good run this year having emerged the Champions of the coveted TNM Super League as well FDH Cup.

The Red-Carpet event was held under the theme “awarding excellence of our athletes” and was graced by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Richard Chimwendo Banda, the Club’s President, Konrad Buckle, Vice President, Fleetwood Haiya among other top officials.

12 players were nominated to be voted for their outstanding performance in different positions like the best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, best striker, and discovery of the season.

The former Civo Services United full-back, Gomezgani Chirwa was voted the player of the season after having a stellar performance in the just-ended season as he helped the team to win TNM Super League, Charity Shield, and FDH Bank Cup before losing the Airtel Top-8 Cup to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the final-

The 26-year-old who joined the people’s team in February, 2019 has been instrumental for the team this season, providing 11 assists and scoring 2 goals in the Super League, five assists, and 2 goals in the FDH Bank. He also scored one goal in the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

Former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers full-back, Precious Sambani who was made Vice Captain by Coach Calisto Pasuwa, was voted as the best defender of the season.

The best goalkeeper award went to the Reserve graduate, towering Clever Mkungula who beat Richard Chimbamba and Rabson Chiyenda.

The best striker award went to Babatunde Adepoju who scored 24 goals in all competitions. He won the Golden Boot in the Super League with 18 goals and 5 goals in the FDH Bank Cup. In total, he scored 24 goals in all the competitions.

The people team also recognized their legends, Lawrence Lure Waya, Kanjedza Kamwendo and Kinnah Phiri.

The Club President’s award went to coach Kalisto Pasuwa.  Pasuwa has had a successful run with Nyasa Big Bullets securing four straight league titles, two Cups and three Charity Shields Cups since he took over in 2018.

Meanwhile, their rivals Mukuru Wanderers also saw their Club President Thomson Mpinganjira giving them all the 17 million Kwacha they won in Airtel Top 8 to share as his appreciation for the job well done.
