In what seems like redundancy, Frank Mwenefumbo is reportedly the force behind a newly established political entity named the National Development Party (NDP). Gerald Chilongo, the party’s interim Secretary General, clarified in an official statement that the party is the result of the collective efforts of well-intentioned Malawians, and active steps are being taken to complete the registration process.
Despite assertions that former UTM official Frank Mwenefumbo is the proprietor of the party, NDP vehemently denies these claims. Gerald Chilongo emphasized, “We wish to strongly refute that NDP has been formed by Hon. Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo and also that he owns it. He is just one of the many people who hold a position in the interim National Executive Committee (NEC).”
Chilongo disclosed that NDP initiated collaboration with the National Planning Commission last year to align its manifesto with the Malawi 2063 vision, adhering to the requirements outlined in the amended Political Parties Act of 2022. The party’s primary goal is to contribute to Malawi’s political discourse and enhance effective service delivery to the citizens.
