Malawi Broadcasting Corporation, a state-owned media outlet, has relayed Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu’s confirmation that the Saudi Arabia-African leaders meeting will proceed as initially scheduled.
This affirmation comes in light of reports suggesting a postponement of the summit due to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict in the region.
Kunkuyu clarified that the postponement of the Arab League Summit is a separate matter and will not impact the scheduled meeting between Saudi Arabia and African leaders.
He emphasized that it is during this summit that the signing of the multi-billion Kwacha agreement for the construction of the Mangochi-Makanjira Road will occur.
In the meantime, Chief Makanjira of Mangochi, along with Member of Parliament for the constituency, Chambo, and a local councillor, have already arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Summit.
