MCP Gains Momentum as People’s Party’s Mitundu Chisamba Dance Troupe Joins Forces

Back to their MCP roots

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP), in preparation for the 2025 general elections, has welcomed Mitundu Chisamba dancing troupe from the People’s Party (PP).

Speaking at Chiseka Primary School grounds in the jurisdiction of Traditional Authority Chiseka in Lilongwe, Bunda Constituency Governor Innocent Magombo praised the group for choosing to rejoin the ruling MCP. Magombo emphasized that MCP values unity, and the decision of Mitundu Chisamba dancing troupe to align with the party serves as a clear indication that MCP’s popularity persists throughout the nation.

“Our party’s door is wide open and let all those who want to join the party feel free. We want MCP to be stronger than it was before when it was outside the government,” he said.

Chairperson for Mitundu Chisamba dancing troop Patricia Kalumbu said they have decided to join MCP because of the visionary leadership that President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has shown in the country by implementing a number of development projects such as roads across the country.

“We know MCP and PP are one, but we have decided to be in MCP so that we contribute to the popularity of the party in readiness for 2025 tripartite election,” she said.

Bunda ward Councilor Liciano Botoman said welcoming back Mitundu Chisamba dancing troop is a clear indication that the party is getting united in order to serve the people in the country effectively with their basic amenities.

Botoman has since urged MCP supporters to stop backbiting and fighting for positions in the party saying the tendency brings division in the party.
