Malawi President Chakwera Heads to UNGA with Lean Delegation

The Malawian government’s spokesperson and Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu, has informed the press that President Lazarus Chakwera will be heading to New York for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September. The Minister also revealed that the government has taken into account the concerns raised by the public regarding the size of the delegation, and as a result, this time, the President will be accompanied by a more streamlined group of 35 individuals.

Kunkuyu went on to explain that among the 35 individuals, there will be representatives from State House, as well as officials from the Ministries of Finance, Agriculture, Trade, and Health.

The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is scheduled to occur in New York, USA, with the high-level General Debate starting on Tuesday, September 19, 2023
