SALIMA – In a resounding show of support, Malawi’s Muslim community has praised President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for his decisive and visionary leadership, crediting him for fostering unity and national development.
Speaking during the 2025 Eid Al-Fitr prayers at Mchoka Primary School Ground in Salima, Mufti Shamuuna Sosola of the Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi (QMAM) lauded Chakwera’s commitment to inclusive governance and his unwavering efforts to build a prosperous and united Malawi.
“You are a visionary leader, and all Muslims are happy with your leadership,” Sosola declared, hailing the President’s servant leadership and his impartial approach to governance.
President Chakwera, addressing thousands gathered for the celebration, acknowledged the people’s resilience in the face of attempts to sow division through politics, religion, and economic hardships.
“Some individuals have tried to use religion, politics, and hunger to divide Malawians. Some have even deliberately inflated prices of basic goods to stir anger against my administration. But I thank you for standing firm in unity and peace,” Chakwera stated.
Event Coordinator Uladi Mussa extended further appreciation to the President for his personal attendance and generous donation of K150 million towards the event, as well as the distribution of food relief.
“We are grateful for your support, including the bags of flour that will be distributed to people after this function,” Mussa said.
Chakwera’s presence and direct engagement with religious communities have reinforced his image as a leader dedicated to fostering inclusivity and national harmony ahead of the upcoming elections.
