The State President, Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says the Church remains a key partner in socioeconomic development owing to its better understanding of the country’s development trajectory dating back to over a century ago when the country was still under colonial rule.
President Chakwera was speaking a while ago at Civo Stadium during a Thanksgiving Sunday by the CCAP Nkhoma Synod.
He called upon the church to continue supporting his leadership through solution-seeking advice, prayer, and delivery of social services such as healthcare, food security, and education among others.
The Malawi leader has since pledged to continue according opportunities to for religious institutions and their members to fully participate in nation-building through various social and economic activities.
Speaking earlier, CCAP Nkhoma Synod Moderator, Rev Phillip Kambulire, assured the President of continued collaboration between the church and the current political administration on all matters that affect Malawians.
He said the church will continue engaging the government on key issues that include Affordable Input Programme, social protection programs, economic empowerment initiatives, and climate change management issues.
