Malawi leader Lazarus Chakwera has arrived in Zambia on Friday afternoon via Kenneth Kaunda International Airport to partake in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit convened in Lusaka.
Before departing from Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe, the capital city, President Chakwera underscored the paramount importance of the Extraordinary SADC Summit in enhancing collaboration among nations in Southern Africa
He said the summit will help in addressing pressing regional issues, particularly in the realm of security.
“In attending this summit, Malawi seeks to strengthen ties with our neighbouring countries and collectively address the security challenges facing our region,” Chakwera said.
Furthermore, the Malawian leader delineated his summit objectives, with a particular emphasis on addressing food security as a primary concern for Malawi. He committed to advocating for holistic approaches to mitigate food insecurity and enhance agricultural advancement within the region.
Scheduled for March 23rd in Lusaka, Zambia, the SADC Extraordinary Summit will assemble leaders from various Southern African nations to deliberate on pressing regional matters. Through President Chakwera’s engagement, Malawi seeks to foster productive discourse and cooperative initiatives aimed at fostering regional stability and prosperity.
