The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) has announced an increase in fees for both degree and diploma programs. The fees for degree programs have been raised from K900,000 to K950,000 per academic year, while the fees for diploma programs have been increased from K420,000 to K600,000 per academic year.
According to LUANAR’s press release dated 20th July, the decision to adjust the fees was driven by the escalating operational costs and the economic challenges faced by their key stakeholders.
Liel Ophaniels, the Speaker of the Natural Resources College Students Council, expressed concern over the fee hike, stating that it poses a significant burden for students who are already struggling to afford the current fees.
