Enter Stanley Chirwa, the urbane attorney who has made headlines for representing the infamous presidential bodyguard, Norman Chisale, in a slew of legal battles. However, Chirwa’s own legal woes have now taken center stage as he has been arrested in a botched attempt to register his Ford Ranger vehicle with the road traffic authorities in the country.
Little did Chirwa know that his prized possession, the Ford Ranger, had a sinister past, having been stolen in a daring heist by armed robbers in South Africa back in 2018.
As the authorities uncovered the truth behind Chirwa’s prized possession, the scene unfolded like a scene from a Hollywood blockbuster: handcuffs clinking and the once-dapper lawyer thrown unceremoniously into a grimy police cell.
Pressed for answers on the origin of the hot wheels, Chirwa, ever the lawyer, opted to exercise his right to remain silent. But silence speaks volumes, and the police are gearing up to unleash a litany of charges against him in connection with the stolen vehicle.
The Lawyer is yet to be taken to court as news of his arrest has gone viral with the state-run Malawi Broadcasting Corporation also giving it coverage.
However, as they say, these remain allegations and Chirwa is to be presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of law.
