A last-minute legal bombshell has put the brakes on an aptitude test scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2025, after Aubrey Namfuko and 24 others obtained a court injunction against the Civil Service Commission (CSC). The test was part of the recruitment process for the post of Land Inspection & Land Enforcement Officer (Grade 1) under the Ministry of Lands.
The claimants, represented by lawyer Bentry Nyondo, argue that they met the qualifications but were not included on the shortlist, prompting them to seek court intervention to understand the basis of their exclusion.
The High Court Judge Edna Bodole has since directed the applicants to file an application for judicial review within seven working days and ensure that all documents are served to the CSC as required by law.
While the CSC has not been accused of wrongdoing, the court’s decision has brought the process to a temporary standstill, prompting widespread reactions on social media.
“This news must circulate quickly to save other candidates from wasting time and money,” one user posted, as many welcomed the court’s move to ensure every applicant is given a fair hearing.
The development highlights the growing role of the judiciary in safeguarding transparency and due process in public recruitment, even as the Ministry of Lands awaits further legal direction.
