Henry Mussa to know his fate Thursday next week in laptop & genset theft

Mussa now free

Imagine a minister of Information in the Malawi government who decided to steal 10 laptops and a gene set, like would he not be in a position to buy his own? Like this is unbelievable but this is what one Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) politician Henry Mussa did alongside his accomplice, Gideon Munthali, when the former served as Minister of Information in the Malawi government.

As they say, the long arm of the law catches is exactly what happened as the Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Court found the two guilty of the said theft by public servants and receiving stolen items and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Today, Mussa through his Lawyer was pleading with the court to show Mussa mercy and leniency. According to Kaphale, he told the court to be lenient with Mussa owing to, among others, that he is of old age and that he has been truthful and cooperative throughout the case. One wonders if did he not know that he was of old age when he was stealing.

Anyway, after the court heard these lamentations, it decided that it will give its sentence on Thursday next week. Mussa has been at Maula after the court found him guilty in October last year. Few days ago, another DPP politician, Gerald Viola, has been convicted of abuse of office.
