Grand Palace Hotel Contributes K5 Million to MBC’s Entertainers of the Year Award

Grand Palace Hotel Donates yesterday donated K5 Million to Support Malawi Broadcasting Corporation’s Revived Entertainers of the Year Awards, Slated for December 30, 2023 at BICC in Lilongwe.

These awards recognize excellence in broadcasting, music, drama, film, sports, and other domains. They were originally launched in 1970 but were discontinued by the state broadcaster in 2005. Gregory Maulana, the Sales and Marketing Manager for Grand Palace Hotel, expressed the hotel’s commitment to celebrating the achievements of Malawians in the broadcasting and entertainment industries during the presentation of the donation.

“This hotel exists because of Malawians and these awards will be celebrating Malawians who have made great impact in their respective fields.
“It is our way of giving back to Malawians for supporting our hotel. Furthermore, we will be growing our business through this event,” said Maulana.
In his remarks, MBC Public Relations Officer and Customer Affairs Manager, Chisomo Mwamadi expressed gratitude to Grand Palace Hotel for supporting the event.
“As MBC, we are very excited that Grand Palace Hotel has come through to assist us. During this year’s Entertainers of the Year Awards ceremony, we will engage an independent audit firm to receive the nominations and announce the winners for the sake of credibility and transparency,” said Mwamadi.
Mwamadi said, unlike in the past when the awards were restricted to MBC staff, the event has been extended to other media houses and other players in different fields.
“We want Malawians to choose entertainers of their choice and not only from MBC. This will be an open event. We are calling upon the general public to support the event, as it will uplift different talents of native Malawians,” he said.
