The embattled spokesperson of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Nicholas Dausi, has made alarming claims about the party’s intentions to commit severe financial crimes against the people of Malawi.
Dausi, who featured in an exclusive interview with Times TV on Saturday night, which a futile attempt was made by the DPP to block the programme from being aired due to a late court injunction, revealed that during the Nkopola meeting that the DPP National Governing Council (NGC) had planned that future Ambassadors and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) appointed under a DPP government would be obligated to give 10% of their salary or corporate profits back to the DPP.
Considering the DPP’s history of soliciting funds from state-owned enterprises when it was in power, for which the Malawian court had ordered the return of the money, one must seriously consider the DPP’s potential to exploit the Malawian population if they regain power. Ultimately, the decision rests with the people of Malawi whether or not to allow the unrepentant DPP to return to government in 2025.
