Don’t sideline late John Tembo’s children in MCP politics says Dedza local chief Mphenzu

Chakwera comforting John Tembo Jnr

Group Village Headman Mphenzu, speaking at the burial of the late John Zenus Ungapake Tembo in Dedza, addressed the gathered mourners predominantly MCP faithful’s, including President Lazarus Chakwera, urging them not to neglect the children of the Tembo family interested in participating in political and government affairs. Tembo, a veteran MCP politician, played a pivotal role in strengthening and preserving the party during challenging times when it faced the threat of extinction.

During the eulogies, John Tembo Jr. recounted his father’s request to President Chakwera to organize a political rally as his final wish. He stated that the assembly of people at Tembo’s burial was a fulfillment of his late father’s desire.

Eisenhower Mkaka, the Secretary General of the Malawi Congress Party, conveyed a message through the late Tembo to Malawi’s founding father, Hastings Kamuzu Banda. The SG said the late Tembo should tell the late President on the other side of life that that under President Chakwera’s leadership, Malawi is making significant progress, citing numerous development initiatives undertaken by the current government.
